Klas squared Beach Reads Summer 2021

Summer and books have always been synonymous for me.

From the summer reading programs at the local library as a small child, to replacing friends with make-believe characters at the lake, books have always kept me company on those lazy, hazy days of summer. I consumed stacks of books one after another lying on the dock, on the deck, or tucked in bed on a rainy day at the cottage.

I later encouraged my children to read during the summer by letting them pick out a pile of favourites before we left for our 3-day road up north every year.

As we pack up for the lake once more, here are my favourite summer reads!

After all, the best book is a shared book. Let us know in the comments which book you’ll read first and then share this list with other book lovers!

The Windsor Knot - SJ Bennett

The Last Train to London - Meg Waite Clayton

A Long Petal of the Sea - Isabel Allende

Daisy Jones & the Six - Taylor Jenkins Reid

The Rose Code - Kate Quinn

Untamed - Glennon Doyle

The Book of Lost Names - Kristin Hamel

The Vanishing Half - Brit Bennett

Where The Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens

The Helena Artist - Alka Joshi

  • Best book is Where The Crawdads Sing hands down. Also enjoyed The Rose Code and The Book of Lost Names. Will investigate the rest.
